SFA as it should be

SFA as it should be

Ah, the teasing has started and the signs are good! Nintendo and Namco have opened up the StarFox Armada website of their anticipated collaboration, and blow me down! They show a 'classic' Arwing model in a 'Coming Soon' image!

In my opinion the series was almost killed with StarFox 64 and the dreadful 'Collect'em Up' StarFox Adventures. Both those games used redesigned Arwings which lost most of their sleek and mean looks (I especially dislike Rare's version, bleh). The music and characters themselves were also changed for the worse. Suddenly Peppy had aged considerably and Slippy had grown younger. But the music, oh the horror!

For some reason someone at Nintendo decided to get rid of the aggressive, uptempo, exciting, classic Nintendo-style tunes and instead replaced them with some 'pseudo-epic Star Wars-wannabe' themes that softened up the entire game (the Venom-theme in Super Smash Bros. Melee> emphasised this, in my opinion).

Don't get it? Play StarFox/StarWing on the SNES, then play StarFox64/Lylat Wars and tell me which one comes across as the 'cool mature' one. I'll be the last to claim that kiddie is wrong, but watering down a perfectly good series like that was just murder.

Ok, so I'm getting excited by an image showing a 16-bit style Arwing. I'm a bit daft, all right. But somehow I hope to find the wreckage of the canned 16-bit sequel StarFox 2 in Armada in both style, graphics and sound.
